samandlindamonroeOn Feburary 24, 2015, Family Services’ will host the 13th Annual Celebrate Families Luncheon at the MCM Elegante in Beaumont.

This year’s event will honor:

Family of the Year, Dr. and Mrs. Sam Monroe – Dr. & Mrs. Monroe served our community for four decades as President and First Lady of Lamar State College Port Arthur. Recently retired, the Monroe’s continue to dedicate their time to Southeast Texas through their involvement in the Historical Society and Higher Education Foundation.

Family Business of the Year, Howell Furniture – For over 50 years, Howell Furniture has provided Southeast Texas customers with well-crafted merchandise with the utmost quality. Their commitment to our community is also evident in all of the ways they “give back” through their support of local civic and social organizations, such as Family Services.

Bill Leger Family Advocate of the Year, Chief James P. Singletary – Beaumont Police Chief, James P. Singletary has lived in Southeast Texas all his life and has over 40 years law enforcement experience at both the local and federal level. His leadership is characterized by an excellent working relationship with both officers and members of the community and a commitment to serving our community with fairness, integrity and respect.

Family Services Volunteers of the Year, Valero Port Arthur Refinery, Trinity Industrial Services, Triangle Gauge and Echo Maintenance – A group of dedicated volunteers organized by these generous corporate citizens provided the materials, time and labor to construct a new playground at Family Services Women and Children’s Shelter. Because of their valuable contributions, children affected by domestic violence whose families are working to make a fresh start apart from abusers have a safe place to play.
