Safe House Protection

The shelter is dedicated to women and children victims of domestic violence. The shelter is located at an undisclosed location and has 24-hour security surveillance. There are 65 beds plus cribs in the facility, and residents can stay there for 30 to 90 days while they prepare to make a fresh start apart from their abuser. Male victims of domestic violence are housed off-site. Not only are housing needs met at the shelter, but residents are also provided with three meals a day through cafeteria-style food services, clothing, personal care items, access to libraries and computer labs, and age-appropriate play areas for children.

Counseling

Individual and group counseling is available to women, youth and children. A licensed counselor conducts all sessions, and services are available to both resident and non-resident victims of domestic violence free of charge. (Survivors of domestic violence do not have to stay at the safe house to receive free counseling services.) Residents at the shelter are invited to attend Empowerment Groups to offer hope and encouragement on a peer-to-peer level. Trained staff facilitates the groups.

The advocate ensures that all children and youth have adequate arrangements and supplies to attend school and works with the students on homework and other school projects. In addition, foster grandparents are available to help supervise children while their mothers are in the shelter facility taking care of other responsibilities. A secure playground is available, and activities are planned often to ensure that children and youth are thriving during their shelter stay.

Battering Intervention and Prevention Program (BIPP)

Family violence won’t stop unless the community holds batterers accountable and until batterers change their behaviors. Our Battering Intervention and Prevention Program (BIPP) is specifically for family violence offenders and lasts for 18 weeks.

BIPP assists batterers to understand their behavior as a means of controlling their partner and focuses on educating the batterer on the nature of family violence, changing beliefs and attitudes that lead to violence, and reinforcing strategies to develop an equal and supportive relationship.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

Family Services Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is designed to provide counseling and referral services to employees of enrolled companies and their immediate family.

Most employers know that personal and family problems can be hard to handle and can make job performance suffer. The Employee Assistance Program helps employees learn how to deal with these difficulties. The program is based on concern for employees’ health and welfare.  Employees can rest assured that counseling is confidential and short-term. Very often, a couple of visits with a counselor are all an employee needs to gain perspective on a problem and a sense of control.

An Employee Assistance Program can mean huge cost savings for the company as well.  For every $1 a company invests on an EAP, approximately $3-$5 can be saved.  Learn more about how Family Services Employee Assistance Program can save your company money.
